Mascaras Review

We all need to have good mascara, and every woman needs to have a volumizing mascara that really creates a dramatic set of lashes! So, I went to the drugstore and got several volumizing mascaras to review alongside my high-end mascara. Let's see what we got!

1. Rimmel "The MAX Volume Flash Mascara"
Claims: "Skinny to fat lashes in a flash! Up to 14 x volume", $6.99
*Well...not so much. This mascara did none of the volumizing claim, however I was very impressed with the lengthening and definition of this mascara! The wand has the largest brush of the mascaras I purchased, and I like that. The consistency is very creamy. However, if you are looking only for volume, this isn't the one to get. I'm keeping this solely because it looked good for easy, simple lashes.

2. Maybelline "Great Lash"
Claims: "Blackest BLACK Mascara", $4.50
*This is my favorite "must have" mascara for daily use. The wand never clumps and even after over a year of use (bad I know) this has always performed for me. The price of under $5 a tube is also an incentive. Does it volumize? Not really, don't buy it for that purpose. However, it is a staple in my makeup collection.

3. Revlon "Double Twist"
Claims: "Volumizing", $9.99
*A pleasant surprise in my volumizing mascara quest! This was my 2nd favorite of the mascaras. First off, the brush is really intense! It has alternating plastic spikes and then fiber bristles. It's a bit intimidating! However this really "fattened" up the lashes and did exactly what it's claiming to do!

4. L'Oreal "Voluminous" Original
Claims: "Volume", $4.99 (on sale)
*DING DING DING, WE HAVE A WINNER! This mascara wins 1st place in the Volumizing category! The brush has thick, dense, and shorter bristles that really help apply the mascara. Consistency is very good. Absolutely shocking in regards to a few swipes, the volume is really obvious! I really like this, maybe even a Holy Grail Volumizing Mascara?!?! The only thing is that the brush looks like it may clump easily, but I'm praying it won't!

5. M.A.C. "Zoom Lash"
$12
*This is not volumizing at all. The consistency is good, the brush however is not. The brush is long which is okay, however after the 5 months I've had this it's very clumpy and transfers the clumps to the lashes. This also takes a long time to dry, has some flaking issues as well. I like the finished look of this mascara and the color is really nice. However, I think we can find something cheaper that does just as well!
